DescriptionA sheet containing 4 stamps and a sheetlet containing 1 stamp. Both visualize a collage of scenes of the German invasion, September 1939.
On the sheet
The stamp on the left side shows 2 Polish cavalryman, wearing helmets of French model, and German soldiers on motorcycles. The motorcycles stand still, because the soldiers don't use the gas handle. On the second stamp from the leftt side: a Polish light tank, type 7TP and a German Junkers bomber Ju 87 (short name Stuka), with false marking (no swastika). The third stamp from left shows a German tank and the entrance of the concentration camp Auschwitz-Birkenau, which not yet existed in September 1939. On the right side stamp the battle ship Schleswig-Holstein, that fired the first shots of World War II when she bombarded the Polish base at Danzig's Westerplatte in the early morning hours of 1 September 1939. Besides this ship sails a German submarine. On right side of the margin: 2 attacking German bomber, a Stuka and another type. On the left side: German soldiers removing a barrier from the Polish-German border near Gleiwitz/Gliwice.
Sheetlet
On the stamp a Polish lancer (cavalryman) and an infantryman. On the margin: German Stuka bombers and a Polish bomber, type PZL P-37 and Polish artillery.
